Success

Success
Ps. 1:1-3; Is. 1:18-20

God wants to reason with us- have a discussion; for us to use our brain

God said it, I believe it, that settles it! You have to believe in order for the promises of God to settle in your life
vs. 19-I'll make you successful
God makes promises that you have to believe and then act in accordance with that promise (there is a big "if" which is based on your actions)
the fight with our willing: what I want to do vs. what I have to do (these should line up) i.e. you should want to be saved as much as your have to be saved. "have" will only take you so far.
obedience: to act without question
resistance leads to rebellion
Jer. 17:7-8 these trees prosper because they gain their water from the streams that are never ending and constantly flowing, and are not waiting on "showers of blessings."

How do I become willing (get my will to a place where I want to do what I have to do)?
1. doesnt walk in the counsel of the wicked
counsel: a)advice, b)purpose(careful not to allow the wickedness of the culture to determine our purpose
2. dont stand in the way of sinners
way: a)path or road (shouldnt be in the wrong places) b)habit or manner (doing what heathen do)-these will rob you of your willingness
3. dont sit in the seat of mockers/scornful
seat: a)sitting with people who are "haters" who mock and are resistant of change b)assembly- group of people around you who put down you or what you believe c)dwelling place-dont live like they live d)situation-it is difficult to live holy in unholy situations
4. delight in his word: you wont read the bible if you dont like it. Your inner man is starving for the word.
5. meditation: a)mutter or talk to yourself- needs to be positive self-talk (dont answer yourself) b)divise, plot, imagine,scheme- you need to see your own success that the things that you touch prosper.

Better Detergent

1/24/10 Pastor Algee Better Detergent
Jer. 2:22; Heb. 10:14-22; Ps. 51:1-10

-God's plan was to walk without guilt or condemnation/ without fear
-Ps. 51- David's guilt over the situation with Bathsheeba
-guilt stains; it replays in our minds over and over again because of the way that we are programmed; can be permanent
-a trap is laid by the enemy when we sin
-sin leaves a damaging stain
-the new covenant allows us to wash away sins which didnt take place under the old covenant (God took account of sins)
-How God washes away our stains
      1. "I will not remember your sins." and writes the laws in our hearts (Heb.10:17)
      2. Jesus defeated satan, sin death, and the curse when he went into hell.
      3. He took away deception (things that appeared to be a good time you can now see for what it really is and the sinful destruction that it causes)
      4. Recreates our spirit on the inside- washed us with rebirth and renewed us with the Holy Spirit
5.Washes away what I used to BE (not just the things that I did): there is no longer a past identity (1Corinth. 6:9-11)
      6. The word washes-when limitations creep up-read the word so that the deception will become clear
      7. Jesus washed us in his blood (Rev. 1:5)

I believe I'll testify

1/20/10 Pastor Nate "I Believe I'll Testify"
John 3:31-35; Heb. 10:35-39
What do I do while I'm waiting (on my testimony)?
1. You need a qualified witness- Jesus is the only qualified witness to what he has seen and that is God is truth (witness of the Earth is the devil)
2. Be a person of faith: "I must learn to function without the sense (sight) that I use the most." (the enemy can mess with your sight, but not what God has placed inside of you
3. "No" is not always a bad thing: there is always something better if God is telling you no to something. (Don't complain while you are waiting)
4. A promise ALWAYS trumphs a fact (Heb. 11:11-12)
5. Believers will be birthed: Who are your "faith" descendants? Who is watching your faith?
6. Take him at his word (Ps. 119:49-50; 51-56) My promises will create a new song in me
7. You want to the Lord to make an example out of you (Deut. 9:25-29) Request that God do it for his namesake so that he does not look bad or like a lousy parent.

Faith of our Farhers

1/17/10 Faith of our Fathers
Eph. 6:1-3; Gen. 1:26-28; 2:7

One of the challenges of creation is the corruption of the original intention
God gave life as a gift
We battle now as Christians to regain God's original intent by sacrifices such as going to church (he originally intended to just be with us constantly like Adam and Eve in the garden) (originally flesh wasnt bad b/c he called it all good)
The power to create life was placed in humans
We were spiritual in the beginning and forfeited that right with our disobedience
Parents are the source of faith
the faith we learned from our parents is hard to shake (he asked everyone whose parents went to church to stand and almost everyone was standing)
How do I teach children faith?
1. live it and be honest when ou mess up
2. teach children the Bible basics (heroes, stories, scriptures) (play a stronger role in thier education
Lords Prayer
Psalm 23 and John 3:16
David, Abraham, Moses(Red Sea)
3. help them memorize scriptures (2-4 a year)
4. Pray for and with your child (hear them pray)
5. Love: unconditional love with relational conditions (reward and punishment)
God guides us with rewards
he loves us unconditionally but wont allow us to do any old thing (make them go to church)

The source of life

1/10/10
The source of life
Gen. 1:26-28; 2:7
John 1:1-5; 6:63

What does God (the author of life) think about what we are doing with our lives? (ex. American Idol and a song writer or singer listening to someone butcher thier song) Is it the way that he intended for it to be or are we jacking it up?
Life comes from the entire Trinity in different forms: God the father-physical life; God the son- everlasting life; God the holy spirit-spiritual life
If you want the real thing you have to go to the source
Life abundantly comes from the Trinity
God the father: physical life
God put power into all of his living creation giving it the power to reproduce from the tiniest bacteria to the largest elephant with us in between.
Our parents are the source of our lives
The (7:purpose, faith, patience, love, endurance, persecutions, wisdom) parts of life are supposed to transmitted to us from our parents
Parents and purpose: If you dont feel that you have a purpose or you dont know what it is
then your parents failed you.
1. Planning parenthood: Males-where are you putting your seed? Females-where did your
seed come from? (There is a power in the ability to reproduce that God has given us and
he will not take that away. i.e. males who have children with females that are "hoes"
have created a "hoe" and females who recieve seed from a man in jail whose father is
in jail now has "jail" seed.) How is my seed being nurtured? Why did I produce?
2. Knowing your purpose: Children follow thier parents footsteps and have to be taught what
to do (children in the past were trained to do what thier parents did-even now if children
decide to do something other than what thier parents do they have a sense of purpose so
you are supposed to allow them to see what you do)
3. Creating wealth for them: children are supposed to be started off better than you
(inheirtance) its tough to get rich without a head start (he used a visual example: he
started by explaining that he did not think he would reach real wealth in his lifetime but as
a father he is supposed to save for his daughter and sons. He used the stage and stood
on 1 side and took 4 steps and stated that wealth was on the other end. He used his
daughter and stated that if she started off from where he started that she could reach
wealth in her lifetime.) where would you be if your parents left you with a house and a car
that are paid for? what about if you had no tuition to pay? Parents are supposed to leave
thier children in a better place than themselves.

Faith, Hope, & Love

1/6/10 Faith, Hope, and Love
Hebrews 11:1-2; 1 Corinth 13:8-13
Faith is the under girding, substance, foundation, confidence that hope sits on. It is when we no that what we are believing God for is going to happen no matter what the circumstances are, what people say, or whatever else happens. The combination of hope and faith are unshakeable.

You can have hope without faith.

Love trumphs both hope and faith and as Christians a lot of times we have forgotten that and our faith has led to wars and killing others instead of showing them the love that God so frequently asks us to show in his word.

Reasons that hope is still important when it is just hope:
1. (Rom. 8:24-25) hope is the key to salvation.
2. (Heb. 6:19-20) hope is the anchor for my soul (emotions).
3.(1 John 3:2-3) hope motivates- causes us to purify ourselves as well as the purification that God does on the inside of us.

We are to put childish things away: the idea that anything will be perfect while we are here or try to view things in a way that it is not what it really is (nothing is perfect while we are here and we only have a glimpse because of our sinful nature. God's understanding as well as prophecy can only be revealed in part and we as Christians have to listen to shepherds, prophets, and teachers with that fact in mind)

Life that is truely life

12/31/09
Life that is truly life Rom. 8:9-11; Phil. 3:12-15
The greatest promise God ever made to us was abundant, everlasting life.
2 Tim. 6:11-12;13-20
Jesus died to atone for our sins and was raised to give us life (salvation was to give us life)
The good fight of faith is to take hold of eternal life which is the reason he took hold of you
God is determined to give us life
1. He loves me (John 3:16)
2. The purpose of Jesus (John 10:10)
3. Life is Gods testimony (1 John 5:9-12)

1/3/10
Life that is truly life pt. 2 When its real 2 Tim. 3:10-17; 1 Tim. 6:12; 18-19
John 10:10
Who defined life for you? Were they right? (once you have had the real thing everything else is an imposter ex. philly cheesesteak from philadelphia) and yes all of his analogies except one had to do with food.
Life is a lesson-Pauls Godly life Def. of real life
1. Purpose: direction and meaning. purpose in life will protect you from danger b/c you have a reason to do things or not to. w/out vision people perish; you can have purpose w/out money and still have satisfaction
2. Faith: belief in what you dont see; requirement for life (the very ability to operate in your everyday life require faith); you have to have a belief in someone other than yourself.
3. Patience: wait;ability to delay gratification (this is the point when he sang ice cream paint job and talked about the importance of being able to put things off)
4. Love: he used Whitney as example of how she did not love herself and ruined her voice b/c she loved drugs more.
5. Endurance: the ability to make it to the end. When you begin a task focus on what the outcome is and dont stop until you reach it. (ex. marriage)
6. Persecution and Suffering: evil things are going to be said about you- not just an aspect of what real life is, but all life just how you deal with it.
7. (vs. 14) wisdom: there is a difference b/t what you have learned and what you are convinced of. wisdom allows you to be taught, rebuked (correction w/ the acceptance of being wrong); wisdom is more powerful than riches and blessings
