Unity and Maturity

Romans 15:1-6; Ephesians 4:11-13
Our destination as Christians is to a unity and maturity of all Christians (the whole body) and we should constantly be moving towards this goal.
vs.14: unity brings a solid foundation in the truth so we wont get 'dooped' by imposters.
vs 15: unity also brings knowledge and our beliefs which help us to speak to each other in love. It also brings a maturity in all areas of our life (emotionally mature and complete people)
vs 16: the body of the bride of Christ can move when every part is in agreement.
How do we get there? Agreement
1. Respect: *Eph. 4:1* (understanding the blessings you have) a realistic understanding of grace and a life that displays that
2. Humility:*4:2* your measure when you are compared with someone greater than you (it is not going to benefit agreement to try and compare yourself to those beneath you so that you feel better about yourself)
3: Patience: *4:2* the ability to endure hardship on the path to progress (disagreement and disloyalty happens when we are impatient)
4: Effort: *4:3* doing your best to do your part even if you have to change (adaptation in order to create peace for the agreement)
5: Equality: *4:4-6* consistent rights and expectations in spite of gifting and position (lack of equality will disrupt any unity- it does not matter how great or small we view the gift everyone should have the same expectations placed upon them from the pastor to the person who cleans)
6: Gifting: *4:7-8* recognition and appreciation of talent and ability, and the responsibility attached with it (low self esteem makes it difficult to agree; jealousy appears when you dont know your own gift)
7: leadership: *4:11-12* humans walking in proper authority that is both ordained and deserved (you have to have both and that brings about confidence in said leader)
No one is free & delivered (reached the pinnacle) until everyone is free (it is like a plague and just because you do not have it does not mean that you can not catch it if someone still has it.

Genesis 11:1-8
These ppl came together in agreement to NOT do what the Lord wanted them to do. The Lord wanted humans to scatter across the earth. The lesson of this story is that agreement is so powerful that God had to stop agreement!! Nothing we plan will be impossible for us if we can come together in agreement. You can agree about the WRONG thing & get farther than if u don't agree at all.
2 Thessalonians 1:11-12
(these verses are some of the most powerful in the bible)
Church is not that difficult to accomplish, the challenge is to spill out into our culture & overcome the earth. We all have a calling on our lives. Are we worth the sacrafice & torture that God will call us worthy of his calling? (the story of Noah=the Lord regreted that he made man). Paul prayed that God will count you worthy of his calling. Can he use you to establish his will in the earth? We should be attempting to make the world a better place for everyone in it, not just Christians. "Don't only walk on streets of gold just in heaven" "don't let the blood of Jesus be a waste on u". Take a step to the next level. We get excited about God being able & knowing he will do what he says he will do but that beloved is an elementary level of understanding. Recognize that God wants to be able to put power behind our words as well!! Walk on water like Peter!! So Jesus can say, " can u please get out here on this water!!" God is looking to back YOUR words. Mathew 18:18 God is looking for a ppl that he trusts that he can say," I tell u what, u speak it & Ill support u." Verse 19-20 Agree & it shall be done, God is looking to back someones words. Have the courage to speak things into exsistance, knowing that Lord will back u. Believe that when u open ur mouth something happens!! "Dont let me get to talking or praying". The story of Elijah (1kings 18) the Lord is not telling Elijah what to do. But the Lord stood up after Elijah spoke = verse 38. Put God on notice!! Make him say, " I gotta show up for him or her!! Cuz they done told everybody what im about to do!" Like Abraham & his son, I realize now that u don't fear me, now go & do.
Romans 12:2 = u will be able to test & prove.
Claim ur power. Raise ur children with the expectation of greatness.
Lord what do u want me to do? I acknowledge that u spared me so that I can look around & realize that u have spared me in order to be able to speak with the power that u gave me.

The Power of Agreement

Psalms 133:1-3
Verse 2 says agreement is like an annointing. There is an annointing when believers decide that we are going to agree together. Agreement is so powerful that even the unsaved can access the power!! A couple that is unsaved & in agreement will go further than an annointed or saved couple that disagree!! Where there is AGREEMENT there is POWER.
John 17:20-23
In this chapter we see Jesus praying for us. Verse 21. He prayed that we would be ONE, unified, & connected in agreement. Our unity will change the way the world sees him. And what unites us is that we were resurected from the dead (our sins). Agreement is so powerful that it can take the blinders off of unbelievers.
Numbers 13- example of disagreement
PROBLEM: agreement is not easy. It is ESPECIALLY hard for BLACK PEOPLE!!
Agreement is depending upon communication. Communication can be challenging b/c it can be misunderstood.
Barriers to effective communication/agreement:
1) Time= Different generations
2) Culture= people communicate differently in different cultures b/c we do different things in different cultures. In scary movies white ppl will get up & go to the suspicious noises vs black people who will run the opposite way & don't need to know the details.
3) Gender= men are not detailed, women are. When women are friends they think their friends are cute. Men don't!! Women can do 3 things at once, men can't. Lol
4) Emotions= when ur angry u don't hear right or talk right.
5) Middleman= that person passing the information can distort the message.
6) Memory= it's difficult to remember what u said or what they said.
7) Perception/Perspective= u used to think ur parents were crazy but now that u are on ur own, ur perception has changed.
How do I show that I'm in agreement:
1) Words= let ur yes be yes & ur no be no
2) Wealth= put ur $$ where ur mouth is. (tithe)
3) Walk= how do u live your life? (clubbing is the devils church) Is ur life a witness? Would anyone believe in the Lord from looking at u?

Sitting with God

Acts 3:6 "silver & gold I have none but such as I have I give I thee" <--we've got something (Jesus)
There's a standoff (stalemate) in the lives of believers everywhere. We are praying & recieving no answers. It's not because God won't do it, it's because he can't do it without violating his standing word & promises to us. Alot of us don't realize who we are & this is what causes a stalemate in our lives.
Mathew 28:18
When Jesus got all the power he didn't say, ok now I'm calling the shots. He began to talk about us, you. U go into all the world & preach the word of the gospel. Whatever u bind Ill bind ect. He pourd out his authority on his people. He restored the power back to man. He became the head & u became the body. Nothing can happen if the body doesn't move! The body (us) needs to realize that we hold the same powers as the head. Ur not attempting certain things, ur still praying trying to get Jesus to go into the hospital but prayers no longer work like that. This causes the stalemate (standstill). Humble yourself but start using your power! It's about YOU. God gave up his son for us.
Ephesians 2:6
Don't pray for Jesus to do for u b/c he gave us the power to bind & loose & so shall he loose. Wake up in the morning & realize that your seated with God. Seated with Jesus as the right hand of the Father. Speak out of your mouth what u desire to happen. KNOW WHO YOU ARE. The blood did not just set u free but it set u up. It did not just loose ur chains it gave u authority. If u don't use your authority Satan will. UNLESS U CLAIM IT U CANT HAVE IT.
The devil will do all he can to contain & confine u once u exercise your authority. There are times when all we wanna do is go home & give up, but understand that you need to keep pressing. Continue to claim it & speak authority. When u feel like you have suffered long enough (audacity); realize that God is creating something different in you. Why is it such a struggle, why does it seem like ur being held back? There is an audacity that comes with struggle & frustration. Some things u have to have the audacity to ask for, a certain statement, he has to purify your motives, like Hanna & the child she gave birth to. You have to ask & believe for something no one else has asked or believed for.
Joshua 10:12 "let the sun & the moon stand still"
If ur seated at the right hand, shouldn't u be asking for more than what everyone else has? Don't ask for crumbs!! Don't wait for God to do it for u!! Religion will limit u. God will take ur little light & douce it with gasoline!!! Stop looking at the trials, don't be timid. Greater is he that is in you than he who is in the world. How dare u sit with God & not reach for the stars. Start thinking "it's going to be what I say it will be!" You & the Holy Ghost break out of this stalemate.
